“What is quality? Quality design must have a sense of authenticity. My work is not cutting edge, it is not supposed to be, but sometimes, the middle of the road is the most dangerous place to walk.”

Tips For Renovating Your Home On A Budget

When it comes to renovating your home, it can be tempting to go all out and spend a lot of money. However, there are ways that you can renovate your home on a budget. Here are three tips:

First, consider what changes you really want to make. You may not need to gut your entire kitchen to get the look you want. Second, try to do as much work as possible yourself. This will save you money on labor costs. Finally, shop around for the best deals on materials.

The Benefits of Researching and Making a Budget

Making and sticking to a budget can be difficult, but the benefits are definitely worth it. A budget allows you to track your spending, set savings goals, and make sure you're using your money in the way that you want to.

But what happens when you don't have a lot of money to start with? That's where research comes in. By taking the time to research your spending patterns and figure out where you can cut back, you can make sure that your budget is realistic and achievable.

So, why not give it a try?

The Benefits of a Methodical Approach to Renovating

When it comes to renovating your home, you want to be sure that you are taking a methodical approach. This will ensure that you are getting the most out of your renovation and that your home is able to withstand the wear and tear of daily life. A methodical approach to home renovation has many benefits. By taking the time to plan and execute a renovation project in a step-by-step manner, you can avoid costly mistakes and ensure that the final result is exactly what you wanted. In addition, a methodical approach can help to keep the project on schedule and within budget. Just as important, a methodical approach will allow you to enjoy the benefits of your renovation as much as possible. When you are more thoughtful in your approach, you can enjoy your renovation long after the project is complete. In the case of home renovation, you may not get a chance to enjoy your new kitchen or bathroom for months or even years. Instead of enjoying the benefits of your renovation, you may be just trying to live with the aftermath of your renovation. A methodical approach to home renovation can help to maximize the enjoyment of the project, while minimizing the stress associated with it.

"So, what’s your story?" – my clients often ask me when I first meet them. Don’t we all hate this question? My answer to this is likely to be all over the place, rather than an elevator pitch! To be honest, the response depends on the person asking the questions. I can come across as a mother, a thinker, a dreamer or a designer who is in love with that she is doing! I can also be so much more. It’s surprising that this question mostly comes up when I meet with people outside my home. When I have them over, my home tells my story. A picture speaks a thousand words as they say. My home has often been my showroom (if there ever was any) or my window to the outside world, showcasing my passion and love for my work. At home, the conversation often shifts to the way I have designed my abode. Friends take great interest in the artwork, the personalised pictures, the intricate details behind the furnishing or sometimes even the design of the mirror and where it is placed in the house! It helps that they can know me on a personal level. I feel content and happy when someone says “this piece of furniture, choice of fabric / furnishing or colour combination looks so right here.” As a designer, this leaves me with a big smile on my face. I want my home to tell my story and to represent me for what I am and for what I stand for. Put simply, our homes are an amalgamation of our choices and behaviours over time. They showcase our personalities and the stage of lives we are in. They basically say "this is who I am"
